FAQs and laser hair removal.
Apr 12th by Jon1. Isn’t this like that site, “Stuff White People Like?”
That’s kind of you, but I would describe it more as a “direct rip off.” But sometimes I pretend it’s an homage. Mostly because I want an excuse to pretend I use the word “homage” regularly.
2. When did you launch this?
March 21. Instead of cramming the first 40 posts on one day that would never have been scrolled through, I went back and started it on January 1st. That way the days are all evenly laid out and when you click on “March” you don’t just see one thick day trying to carry 40 posts.
3. Why do you have three sites?
Prodigaljon.com and 97secondswithgod.com were my first sites. They all serve different purposes but the content flows between them. Prodigal Jon has over 100 long chapters or ideas about life. 97seconds is full of quick devotionals that only take a few seconds to read.
4. Can I submit an idea?
Please, the best ideas on this site came from readers. Seriously, you are the site. I’m just transcribing most of this stuff from my life and lots of others. Email me at theacuffs@yahoo.com with your ideas.
5. Are you on facebook?
Yes. Let’s be friends. Search for theacuffs@yahoo.com to find me.
6. Who are you?
I’m Jon Acuff, from North Carolina via Massachusetts now in Atlanta with my two kids and my prettier than me wife. I went to Samford University.
7. What do you do?
I write advertising. I do it full time and freelance on the side for Home Depot, North Point Community Church, Chick-fil-A, Reach Records etc. In fact, in Atlanta you might be familiar with my recent radio commercials for laser hair removal. Please insert your own “Jon is a smooth writer” joke here.
8. What about writing a real book?
I’ve actually had some really positive conversations with a publisher and some literary agents in the last week. I may get that 87′ LeBaron convertible after all.
9. Do some people hate this site?
Indeed. Thankfully, yes.
10. How long have you been a minster?
Not long. Another way to answer that question is “never.” Although someone asked me that the other day.
11. Are you speaking anywhere soon?
I’m speaking next week but it’s a closed event. If a book comes out hopefully there will be a sarcastically named tour of churches or youth groups or taco stands.

I didn’t know you lived in Atlanta! (Or maybe I forgot.) Are you anywhere near Snellville?
Stuff Christians Life – Ripping off contemporary fads
I wonder if I can post a suggestion for “Stuff Christians Like” here rather than emailing because I’m too lazy to email you.
(I’m also to lazy to check through your entire blog right now, maybe you’ve already covered this. But maybe we can just say it’s not that I’m too lazy, it’s really that I’m trying to ration out your wit and humor so that I don’t run through it all at once.)
Anyhow:
My addition to Stuff Christians Like:
Christians like to take something that worked as secular art, do a poor imitation, throw Jesus’ name in it, and feel much better about supporting it.
Examples:
Every genre of music… ever! When secular heavy metal was big, Christian heavy-metalers tried to steal there shtick. When secular rap was big all these knuckleheads rhymed “Jesus” with “Please us.” When secular ska was big all these Christian bands found horn sections…
Games… Does Bible pictionary really deepen anybodies walk with Christ? Are those silly Christian trading card games/magic rip-offs really glorifying to our creater? Do we really need a computerized first person shooter set in Revelations?
(We’ll leave your blog off this list… Becuase unlike all of the above, all kidding aside, it’s done well and not a mediocre knock off.)
you would be a copy writer. Ad makers are the best blog writers.
Those laser hair removal spots made me feel…weird.
Let’s do lunch.
dude, my first car was an 87 lebaron convertible, no lie! i loved that thing.
I’m interested in laser hair removal for men. Can you please tell me more? I’m right here in Edgewood.
not so much the use of homage as the British “an” before it.
I'm a Lutheran from Iowa, so maybe you could pay homage to our quirky traditions?
